Community One Health Initiative
One Health in Action. One Community at a Time.
Tare da manoma. An tabbatar a gonar.
What COHI Is
One Health, delivered where farmers already are.
COHI is how Plush Agri Solutions takes veterinary care into the community, instead of waiting for farmers to come to us. It puts a vet's advice, and a way to reach one, inside daily life in the communities we serve.
It works because animal health, human health, and the environment are connected. When livestock stay healthy, families eat better and earn more, and the risk of disease passing between animals and people goes down.
COHI is delivered in English and Hausa and built into daily life in Danhonu 1: dialogue with community leaders, farm visits, a monthly forum where farmers raise problems directly, education in the local school, and awareness campaigns that carry simple health messages beyond the farm gate.
Our Approach
Six programmes, one community-embedded model.
Community Dialogues
Conversations with local leaders, cooperatives, and households that build trust before any advisory work begins.
Farm Visits
On-site checks with individual farmers: disease signs, husbandry, and practical next steps for their herd.
Monthly Farmers' Forum
A standing meeting where farmers raise problems directly and hear from a vet in person.
School-Based One Health Education
Sessions with pupils in Danhonu 1 that connect animal health to the health of the whole community.
Awareness Campaigns
Simple, repeated messages on disease prevention and safe drug use, carried beyond the farm gate.
Vaccination Support
Guidance and coordination that helps farmers protect their herds before disease takes hold.
Pilot & Founding Community
Danhonu 1, Chikun LGA.
COHI is anchored in Danhonu 1, Chikun LGA. We chose it because it is a livestock-dependent community with no reliable access to veterinary care, exactly the gap this initiative exists to close.
Since launch, COHI has run community dialogue sessions with local leaders, completed farm visits with herders, and delivered One Health education in the local school.
Farmers under our advisory now have a direct line to a vet for the first time. Danhonu 1 is the model we carry into every community COHI reaches next.
